June 2019

Writer: Becky BishopBecky Bishop

June got off to a good start, with Savannah stepping up to 90 at Bovington (Unaffiliated) on the 2nd. Although it wasn't a foot perfect run, it was definitely the right decision to step her up and found the new height almost easy. With our next event at the end of the month, we had lots of time to iron out any issues we had, and improve.

Midway through the month I was lucky to be able to attend a XC Clinic at Downlands Equestrian, taught by Harry Meade!

One of our lovely liveries on my yard was unfortunately not able to go, so she said I could go in her place. She was booked onto the 80cm group, which would be a great confidence boost for Savs after stepping up to 90 at Bovington.

I was very excited as Harry was someone that I have looked up too for a while as I think he is a brilliant rider. Savannah was a star the whole time, she literally didn't out a foot wrong and everything effortless.

Harry was extremely kind about me and Sav's, and I had such a great time - if anyone was thinking of having any lessons/ doing any clinics with him I would 100% recommend it!

He really looked at each of the horse and rider combinations and had a different approach to each meaning everyone got something out of the session.

The XC clinic was just over a week before our next event at West Wilts, and so I was very happy Savs had had a nice confidence boost round Downlands before hand. It obviously worked a treat as she absolutely skipped round for her first double clear; an amazing end to the month! To read more about both Bovington and West Wilts, check out my event reports.
